Navigation Specialist
Summary
The Navigation Specialist implements core components of Alianza Translatinx’s Corazones Valientes Community Violence Intervention (CVI) Program, providing case management, crisis response, and service navigation to TGI residents at elevated risk of gun violence victimization.
Through trauma-informed support and individualized Safety & Stability Plans, the Navigation Specialist connects participants to housing resources, healthcare services, legal support, employment opportunities, and healing-centered programming. This role also supports leadership development among participants and helps build long-term protective factors that reduce exposure to violence.
This position includes a 90-day introductory probationary period.

Essential Functions
Attendance & Professional Standards
Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
Work a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week.
Be available to work flexible hours, including scheduled evening outreach shifts (9:00 PM–1:00 AM) and occasional weekends.
Participant Intake, Assessment & Case Management
Conduct structured intake and risk/needs assessments for participants.
Co-develop individualized Safety & Stability Plans with program participants.
Provide ongoing case management and follow-up support.
Maintain accurate documentation in Apricot 360.
Administer participant surveys and assist with program evaluation.
Service Navigation & Stabilization Support
Connect participants to housing assistance, healthcare, mental health therapy, legal services, transportation support, and workforce development resources.
Assist participants in accessing emergency stabilization resources, including hotel support, transportation assistance, and communication tools when needed.
Facilitate warm referrals to internal programs and external partners.
Support participants in navigating complex systems and overcoming barriers to care.
Rapid Community Response
Coordinate and participate in rapid response efforts following incidents of violence or hate-motivated harm affecting community members.
Provide crisis follow-up and connect individuals to stabilization services.
Support community communication and outreach following incidents of violence.
Healing Services & Mental Health Linkage
Connect participants to trauma-informed, culturally relevant mental health therapy and healing-centered services.
Support healing circles and peer-led support spaces.
Help ensure participants have access to ongoing healing and wellness resources.
Leadership Development & Empowerment Programming
Support implementation of the Empowerment Workshop Series, including workshops on trauma recovery, self-advocacy, violence prevention, and empowerment self-defense.
Identify participants who may benefit from deeper engagement or peer leadership roles.
Mentor participants who are interested in leadership development and community advocacy.
Work Environment and Conditions
This position combines office-based coordination and field-based outreach.
Typical Time Split:
Approximately 30% field outreach
Approximately 70% office coordination and documentation
Field settings may include environments involving trauma exposure, substance use, and unpredictable situations.
Minimum Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Experience in case management, peer support, harm reduction, violence prevention, or direct service.
Ability to coordinate multiple participant cases simultaneously.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Ability to respond quickly to emerging incidents and shifting priorities.
Comfortable using digital case management systems and Microsoft Office.
Commitment to trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Lived experience within TGI communities strongly preferred.
Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
Experience working with unhoused individuals, immigrants, or survivors of violence.
Familiarity with Apricot 360 or similar systems.

Transportation Requirements
Must have reliable transportation and valid California Driver’s License.
If using a personal vehicle for outreach or off-site visits, proof of valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance is required.
