Our Story

Alianza Translatinx is the first transgender-led organization by transgender people of color in Orange County, CA.

Alianza Translatinx was born in 2020 from necessity and unstoppable courage – a small collective of Transimmigrant women daring to imagine a different future for Transgender, Gender Expansive and Intersex (TGI) people in Orange County. From humble beginnings distributing meals during a global crisis, we have grown into a powerful movement: a sanctuary where our community finds safety and joy, a force that has shattered barriers and a beacon of hope that proves what’s possible when TGI people lead.

Below is a year-by-year snapshot of key milestones that have shaped our journey:

2020

We carved out space where none existed—planting the first roots of a vibrant, visible TGI community in Orange County.

2021

We released the first-ever TGI Health in OC report—marking the beginning of focused, community-driven data collection on TGI health disparities in Orange County—and held the first TGI-Health Summit in partnership with the Orange County Health Care Agency.

2022

We helped secure the passage of the OC Board of Supervisors’ resolution: “Standing in Solidarity with Transgender, Gender Non-Conforming, and Non-Binary Individuals.” This marked a historic recognition of TGI rights in Orange County.

2023

We secured funding from the City of Santa Ana to launch Orange County’s first-ever TGI youth support group, ensuring young TGI individuals have a space for connection, learning, and growth.

2024

We launched “Orange County’s Inaugural TGI Survey: We Deserve Housing Justice”—a critical step toward advancing equity and amplifying TGI voices in local housing policy.

At Alianza Translatinx, we don’t just imagine a better world—we’re building it, one victory, one hug, one act of defiance at a time.
